KOKOZASHI Network

From June 17–25th 2026, we had the opportunity to join the “Kokorozashi Network” in Mongolia . This was much more than a business trip or a meeting. It was a journey filled with learning, friendship, and unforgettable memories. Every day reminded us why disability inclusion and independent living are so important.

• On June 18 – We visited the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, where we learned about Mongolia’s history and culture. It was amazing to see how rich their heritage is. While we were walking through the museum, it gave us a deeper appreciation for this country’s strength and traditions.

• June 19 – We attended the Kokorozashi Network Reunion Party, and it felt like meeting family again. There were so many smiles, hugs, and laughter. It was wonderful to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new friends who all share the same goal of creating a more inclusive world.

• June 20 – It was one of the most meaningful parts of the trip where we join a workshop titled “From Invisibility of Persons with Disabilities to Their Empowerment Through Strengthening Mongolian Network of Independent Living Centres.” We get to listen to different perspectives and experiences where we realized that real change begins when we work together. Everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and given the opportunity to live independently.

• June 23 – During the Kokorozashi meeting, We had thorough discussion, where Center for Independent Living (CIL) representatives from Japan, Cambodia, Nepal, Taiwan, Pakistan, Vietnam and Mongolia shared their financial situation, current sources of funding, and donor support. It was a great opportunity to learn from one another, understand each center’s progress, and discuss how we can continue strengthening our work together to support persons with disabilities in our own respected country.

• June 24 – We had the chance to explore more of Mongolia’s culture and traditions. We felt welcomed with the warm hospitality, beautiful places, and local customs that made this day very special and a wonderful experience that we will always remember.

• Addition: we attended a small event where we got to see traditional Mongolian leather wallet handicrafts. Next, we also learned how to repair and maintain wheelchair batteries, an important practical skill that can help support independent living for persons with disabilities. Outside of our meetings and workshops, we explored Sükhbaatar Square and visited the State Department Store, where we enjoyed spending time together and bought souvenirs to bring home. These moments allowed us to experience more of Ulaanbaatar while creating even more wonderful memories together.

Thank you to everyone in the Kokorozashi Network for making this journey so meaningful. See you again next year in Taiwan.
