Meeting on the Beppu Disability-Inclusive City Project and Inclusive Employment Practices

On January 14, 2026, Mr. Mey Samith, Executive Director of PPCIL, attended a meeting with Mr. Makoto Wada and colleagues representing The Nippon Foundation at the office of HRInc. The meeting focused on a successful initiative called the “Beppu Disability-Inclusive City Project,” implemented in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture. The project developed a community development plan that creates employment opportunities for persons with disabilities to work alongside persons without disabilities, guided by the principle “No Charity, but a Chance.”

Following the meeting at HRInc, Mr. Makoto Wada and his colleagues also paid study visits to the PPCIL office and SHIKI Company.

Looking ahead, The Nippon Foundation intends to replicate this successful model in countries across the Southeast Asian region.
