YOGA Training and Practices
|On August 25, 2016; PPCIL conducted a half-day Yoga training instructed by a professional Yoga specialist from Japan. There were 15 participants attending this practical event.
The training program was focusing on the relaxation, imagination, and meditation of individuals with severe disabilities. It is advantageous of both didactic and experiential. All participants were given the opportunity to practice what they were learning individually and in group sessions/peers, and it they felt pleasured to have a therapeutic body and breath in and out class, including the transformational relaxation under the guidance of the trainer.
The course is more than providing skills of how to do Yoga to people with severe disabilities; it is depending on our knowledge toward Yoga, disability, and spirituality. We learned about the psychosocial aspects of disability, and we were encouraged to integrate personal and professional experiences into one.
Yoga brings us a healthy mind and body. It helps us promote a balanced development of all the three mains factors within us: physical, mental and spiritual. Even we are living with disabilities but we can do Yoga exercise in our own way.
