On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, PPCIL organized a capacity-enhancing training program for staff and volunteers on “Independent Living, Disability Inclusion, Gender Equality, and Universal Design.” The program was supported by the DRF/DRAF Fund and held at Soma Hotel.
Objective:
The purpose of the training was to shift perspectives from the charity model to the social model and a rights-based approach.
At the end of the training, participants were able to:
1. Understand the core pillars of independent living.
2. Identify and dismantle physical, attitudinal, and communication barriers.
3. Increase understanding on gender equality, accessibility, and universal design.
4. Implement practical inclusion strategies within their specific roles.
Phnom Penh Center for Independent Living (PPCIL) is the first IL movement in Cambodia, which is non-governmental organization established in September, 2009.
